Scott, Juliet and I left for the Sydney airport at 10:00 am. It takes approximately 2 hours to arrive at the Sydney airport from Cardiff. We flew on Virgin Airlines and I was shocked by the lack to airport security. Not once was I asked to show any I.D. and we didn't have to take our shoes off to go through security! All they looked at was our boarding pass.
The flight to Cairns took 2 1/2 hours and when we arrived we picked up our car rental and then headed to Trinity Beach where Juliet had booked us a self-contained apartment for the week. Our balcony looked out at the beach and we just had to cross the road to be at the beach. It was wonderful! Because of the potential for jellyfish and crocodiles, we could not swim in the water directly across from our apartment. There was one place on the beach about 5 minutes away where swimming was allowed because the water was netted and there was a lifeguard on duty.
The pictures shown here are of the apartment, views from the balcony, some of the flowers, plants and birds surrounding the apartment and two of the places we ate during the week. The self-contained apartment was perfect and a great place to relax! Right next door was a pub with a "casino" room with slot machines (pokies) so you know where I spent some of my "down" time.
Wow, Judy, that looks like such a special place. I know y'all must have had a ball staying there. Were those parrots flying around wild?
ReplyDeleteThe pictures are amazing!!
ReplyDeleteThe white birds are Cockatoo birds and yes they fly around wild. They are members of the parrot family I believe. Colorful Parrots are also wild here and can often be seen in the trees.
