AUSTRALIAN REPTILE PARK

On Thursday, March 4, Betty, Melanie and I went to the Australian Reptile Park. It is located in Gosford, about an hour away from Cardiff. It was a cloudy day and we experienced some raindrops along the way. Betty packed us a lunch so we could have a picnic on the grounds.

When we arrived, the weather broke and the rain came down in buckets. We visited the reptile and spider exhibits which were indoors and by the time we were finished, the rain had stopped. It was an overcast day, but perfect for walking around the park.

The park features uniquely themed exhibits of reptiles, spiders (we actually saw a male spider being milked for venom which is then used to make anti-venom) and birds. The park also has wombats, Galapagos tortoises, crocodiles, alligators, koalas, dingoes, and kangaroos. Many of the kangaroos roam (or perhaps I should say hop) around the grounds. We saw one of the kangaroos with a baby in her pouch (they call them Joeys).

I was able to pet the koala, and they are just as soft as they look. I also touched a huge snake and a crocodile.
