HUNTER VALLEY GARDENS (part 2)

A few more pictures from the Hunter Valley Gardens and then on to the vineyards.........Enjoy!

After visiting the Hunter Valley Gardens, we ate lunch at Potters Hotel Brewery Resort, home to the Hunter's only Micro-Brewery - the Hunter Beer Company. In front of the brewery are two distinctive Heritage Brick Beehive Kilns.

Scott and Juliet stayed at the resort for their first anniversary. One of the operators of the brewery remembered them from their stay and gave them a free bottle of Oyster Stout. The Oyster Stout is not available yet for sale.

The Hunter Valley is Australia's oldest and best know wine region. The Brokenback Range makes a spectacular backdrop to more than 140 wineries and cellar doors offering wine tastings. We visited the Hunter Valley Cheese Factory Shop at the McGuigan Cellars where we tasted several different types of cheese (and bought some to take home). Our next stop was at the Golden Grape Estate where Scott and Juliet did some wine tasting. One of the Golden Grape Estate's specialties is Chilli Schnaps (they said it was hot, hot, hot).

Before we left for home, we stopped at the Tempus Two winery. It was a beautiful place with uniquely designed canopies. Tempus Two is also home to Oishii Japanese & Thai Restaurant and Hunter Valley Smelly Cheese Shop.

  1. I like the name of the cheese shop...do they do good business with Smelly in their name?
