HUNTER VALLEY GARDENS (part 1)

Pokolbin, NSW

On Sunday, March 7, Scott, Juliet and I headed off to the Hunter Valley Gardens, nestled in the foothills of the Brokenback Ranges in the heart of the Hunter vineyards (we also visited some vineyards which will be in part 2 of my blog). Spanning over 60 acres, Hunter Valley Gardens have more than 8,000 roses on display. Along the 8 kilometer walking paths are more than 6,000 trees, 1 million ground covers and 600,000 shrubs. Very impressive and beautiful!

The gardens have several feature gardens: The Rose Garden, The Oriental Garden, The Storybook Garden, The Waterfall Garden, The Lakes Walk Garden. It was a very relaxing day, taking in the sensational sights, colors and fragrances.

During our visit, we also explored the Hunter Valley Gardens Village, a boutique shopping village. My favorite two shops were the gem shop and the book shop (who would have guessed?).

Below are some of the pictures I took of the gardens. I hope you enjoy them.
